> GPRS

  • faster access to Internet information – wherever you are in the UK
  • always connected – only pay for what you send and receive
  • take a voice call without interrupting your Internet connection

What is GPRS?

General Packet Radio Services (GPRS) is a packet-based wireless communication service that allows high data rates and continuous connection to the Internet for mobile phone and computer users. GPRS is based on Global System for Mobile (GSM) communication.

We have built our GPRS network to work in the same places as our GSM (voice) network, meaning the new service will be available for 99% of the population in the UK.

How do I get GPRS?

You need a GPRS enabled mobile phone.

This will combine your GSM voice service with the latest GPRS broadband network. Follow the details in your user guide to get started.

What can I do with GPRS?

Access the Mobile Internet as easily as making a voice call. You can keep in touch by email and get up-to-the-minute information on virtually anything, wherever you are in the UK.

  • communicate – make calls; send and receive email, text messages, voicemail…
  • have fun – check out TV, cinema, restaurants, bars, pubs…
  • shop around – for last-minute holiday breaks, cheap flights, CDs, books…
  • access – Industry specific information, publications, professional and trade associations, industry intelligence…

What does GPRS cost?

While your mobile is effectively online continuously, and ready for instant use, you are only charged for Mobile Internet calls when you actually send or receive data. Once the information you want is on your mobile, you can view it for as long as you like – there are no further costs.

GPRS service is available with all standard pay monthly calling plans.
