| | | The V180 is aimed at fashion-conscious consumers, with a clamshell design. It features a number of ways for users to personalise the phone, including screensavers, wallpapers, games and ringtones, which can be stored in either MIDI or MP3 formats. MIDI tones can be mixed directly on the handset using Motomixer.
Although details were sparse, the V180 also contains instant messaging features valuable to the youth market. This is conceivably handled as SMS-chat, but may use one of the popular desktop IM formats or the emerging Wireless Village standard. The V180 can also synchronize with a PC.
The phone will be available in a range of markets in Q2 2004, with pricing decided by carriers. The handset will fall within the entry-level price band.
Motorola's second handset of the day is the V180, a more mid-range device containing a VGA digital camera for picture messaging. Photos can be displayed on the large colour display.
All of the personalisation features of the V180 are also found here, along with Motomixer and the addition of force-feedback in games and ringtones.
